1997 Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra

The styling of the Toyota Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider. The Toyota Supra Mark IV (1993–2002) use the subframe, suspension and drivetrain assemblies from the Z30 Soarer (Lexus SC300 and Lexus SC400), test model pre-production started in December 1992 with 20 models, and official mass production began in April 1993.

The 1997 JGTC (Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, now known as The Super GT) series saw the Toyota Castrol TOM'S Supra lining up against competition in the GT500 class that included Porsche GT1, Honda NSX, Lamborghini Diablo and Nissan Skyline.

The name TOM stands for Tachi Oiwa Motor Sport. Their head office is located in Tokyo, Japan. They are currently heavily involved with Super GT racing and Formula 3 racing. TOM'S creates aftermarket parts for current Toyota vehicles, and have also created their own special edition of certain current Lexus models.
