1) Paperback Book Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) by HarperCollins. I loved the Frances books when I was a child. I love reading the Frances books to my children. Frances is a delightful character who makes you smile with her witty songs and her unique view of the world.
Bread and Jam is probably my favorite Frances story. I love the detailed descriptions of the food. Frances is a typical picky eater who only wants to eat bread and jam, everyday. Frances´ parents allow their determined daughter to do just that. Frances learns a wonderful lesson about variety.
The illustrations are detailed and soft. They match the excellence of the story.
The length is perfect and it is a wonderful read- aloud book.¤

2) Paperback Book Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) by HarperCollins. The Frances books were popular with my daughter when she was a young child and with me as well. I recently bought all of the available titles for my twin grandsons (4.5 years old). I love the little songs that Frances sings. Common childhood situations crop up in the stories - in this one, children´s food phases - and parental solutions are creative, kind and effective.¤

3) Paperback Book Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) by HarperCollins. Reviewed by Sophia McElroy (age 5.5) for Reader Views (9/08)

"Bread and Jam for Frances" by Russell Hoban is an awesome book! It made me feel "laughy" all over. The songs were funny and I liked to sing them. It has a little sad part when Frances doesn´t want to eat jam anymore. I like peanut butter and jelly, but not all the time. I like the pictures, they are funny!

4) Paperback Book Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) by HarperCollins. Such a cute book! I was so happy to get my hands on a copy, because you just don´t see much writing like this anymore. The story is cute, the writing style is wonderful with plenty of sing-song, and it has a cute message about learning to try different kinds of food.¤

5) Paperback Book Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) by HarperCollins. Frances is a picky eater. She likes bread and jam because it´s consistent.

Her parents are understandably upset by this, but they deal with it in the most practical way - they give her exactly enough bread and jam to fill her up for life.

The story is resolved very quickly, after only a day, but satisfyingly. "How do you know what I´ll like if you don´t even let me try it?" indeed.¤

6) Paperback Book Bread and Jam for Frances (I Can Read Book 2) by HarperCollins.

Frances is a fussy eater. In fact, the only thing she likes is bread and jam. She won´t touch her squishy soft-boiled egg. She trades away her chicken-salad sandwich at lunch. She turns up her nose at boring veal cutlets. Unless Mother can come up with a plan, Frances just might go on eating bread and jam forever!
