I purchased it for the N.C. Wyeth illustrations ( I am an artist , a grand niece of Charles Woodbury who founded the Ogunquit School of Art) with which I am very familiar. Born and raised in Maine, I enjoy ALL the Wyeth works, and own an original N.C Wyeth print. My husband, now 81 , has a collection of all the books that N.C. Wyeth illustrated which our Grandchildren love to read when visiting us. This volume was a gift to a great-nephew who at 7 years of age is a voracious reader. His Dad is a Pediatrician at Maine Medical and his Mom is a free-lance Editor for Houghton Mifflin.....his Grandmother ( my sister) has a PhD from Harvard and both os us were raised on the classics. I read ´Bleak House´ at 12!! Wy own grandchildren are great readers, and it is my wish that the youth of today paid more attention to learning ( with book in hand ) and less time ´text messaging´, video games . etc. SOMEHOW, we have to find a way to teach parents that reading skills are the promise of their children´s future!. And summed up by saying ´Treasure Island´ is a treasure to own!. Currently Treasure Island (Signet Classics) has an overall rating of 8 over 10.
