The Motley Fools Rule Breakers Rule Makers : The Foolish Guide To Picking Stocks by Fireside

On 2009-08-12 Mariusz Skonieczny, ClassicValueInvestors . com wrote: This is a pretty good book. I specifically liked the section of investing in rule breakers. These are the companies that possess some type of advantage over competitors such as the ´first-mover advantage´ or a superior brand. In a nutshell, it means investing in companies that possess moats, which is a term coined by Warren Buffett meaning competitive advantage.

The authors argue that when investing in these companies, investors should ignore the numbers and valuations. While overpaying a little might be ok, but completely ignoring the valuation is going a bit too far. Would you pay $1 million for a Ferrari just because it is a superior vehicle? I don´t think so. Besides my disagreement on the valuation, this book is pretty good.
