1) Paperback Book Replay by Harper Paperbacks. Because there are so many reviews of this book, nearly all of them wildly positive, I won´t try to add a great deal more here except to state that this is one of the most life-affirming books that I have ever read. As the book´s protagonist lives his life over and over and over again, he gradually comes to appreciate those things that most matter. Although this is loosely considered a genre novel, it is something that almost anyone who enjoys reading will love and appreciate.

It is interesting to ask precisely what genre the book belongs to. I don´t think it can be considered Sci-fi, except possibly very soft Sci-fi. It isn´t quite an alternative reality novel. More than anything, it is a fantasy novel. The other work it most closely resembles is the movie GROUNDHOG DAY, except that the cycles are not a single day but years. I have not read whether or not REPLAY influenced either GROUNDHOG DAY or its source material, but it seems likely.

This has been a very good reading year for me, a year in which I´ve discovered many new and extremely fine books. But discovering and reading REPLAY was one of the highlights. I learned of it, by the way, on the recurring feature "You Must Read This" on NPR´s All Things Considered. I have been inspired to read a few books by that feature (though not all suggestions are of equal value -- one contributor suggested NIGHTWOOD by Djuna Barnes, perhaps my all time least favorite serious work of fiction). This has probably been my favorite.¤

2) Paperback Book Replay by Harper Paperbacks. Totally amazing book. How would you redo your life if you could relive it, again and again?
I found it really made me think about making powerful choices in my life - and not wasting time.
I´m at a major cross roads, and this book gave me even more confidence and zest for doing what I need to do to transform EVERY area of my life.
It really has the effect of feeling compelled to live life fully, every day, not waiting for things to get perfect - just living courageously with intention and direction. All of that from a book!
This is not your typical science fiction, anyone would enjoy this book.¤

3) Paperback Book Replay by Harper Paperbacks. I have always been a fan of time travel books and this is one of the best one´s I have ever read! Still reads great 20 years later!¤

4) Paperback Book Replay by Harper Paperbacks. With over 300 reviews, it´s clear this book has struck a chord with readers. I found it in a charity book store, and was intrigued by its one sentence ´hook´ about what would happen if you could live your life over and over and over again.

For the first three quarters of the book, the author delivers 5 star material. In particular, the ´second time around life´ of the protagonist is rendered in exceptionally compelling and believable detail that kept me turning pages with scarcely a thought about anything else.

The book goes off the rails a bit in the last quarter. However, I cared about the main character and his love interest all the way through the book. Moreover, although their is a fantastic premise at the heart of the book, I would not classify this book as fantasy or science fiction. it´s really speculative fiction, done well, off of a heckuva premise.

5) Paperback Book Replay by Harper Paperbacks. I agree with most of the reviews - it was a great book. After many repetitions of the theme, I had to wonder where it was going. I am not going to spoil the ending, but will say that I was disappointed, apparently others were not. For me it was anti-climatic. It built up to a let down.

There should have been some sort of explanation for the phenomena. Maybe the sequel will cover it, or the movie!?!?¤
