Daughter of Venice by Walker Books Ltd

On 2010-01-21 , wrote: Daughter of Venice During a trip to the library I happened upon a copy of this book and thought it looked like a decent quick-read. Although I must say the cover art is fabulous, the story content is rather slow. It took a couple of chapters to pick up and develop a semi relate-able plot. The story opens with the young daughter(around 14) of a noble man in Venice. She is one of many children. Because she is noble, she is protected and has never been out by herself. She eventually schemes to get out of the house and ends up in the Jewish ghetto. Through a series of whirlwind events she falls in love with a man twice her age who thinks she´s a boy. (Not crazy enough for you?) She decides to reveal her true identity and he does not love her because she´s not Jewish. I did learn a lot about Venice, but not enough to make the book worth buying. If you really, really still want to read it, check it out at the library. If you would like to read a better historical adventure book, read Shield of Stars (The Shield, Sword, and Crown). The series is great. (ps it´s only $2.48 new on Amazon!). And summed up by saying Daughter of Venice. Currently Daughter of Venice has an overall rating of 8 over 10.
