1) Paperback Book Burning Bright by Chivers Large print (Chivers, Windsor, Paragon & C. I have no idea why I bought this book. The beginning sounded promising (although not the first chapter with that silly dream of blood by the old lady - was that supposed to like shock me, scare me, make me interested or what?) I only moved onto the second chapter because I was on a plane and I didn´t have anything else to read. Read through about half of it, or better, I struggled through about half of it.

The charcters are annoying and silly, the writing goes from Third to First person which is totally uncalled for and doesn´t add anything to the story (what is the story again?), there are dreams and methaphores which I didn´t really care to understand - I had to skip and skip until I finally decided that it isn´t worth my time.
So I left it.

It is so sad when you as a reader stop caring about the characters in the book. For a while I thought that the subtle descriptions of sex were well written, but even that didn´t last for long.

So, unless you are James Joyce or something - please don´t experiment! Just write!¤

2) Paperback Book Burning Bright by Chivers Large print (Chivers, Windsor, Paragon & C. This novel offers a penetrating account of the Bristol and London underworlds through the eyes of a young woman. Always a writer with an astonishing eye for the right detail, Helen Dunmore´s characters are engaging enough to pull you into her narrative world and dangerous enough to make you wonder what she´ll do next with them. This novel is about sexual awakening, power and class, and all with a touch light enough to make you think it´s not tackling any of the big themes at all.¤
