1) Paperback Book A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) by Revell. I loved this book! Many books I have read in Christian fiction are so careful to keep the romance on a surface level that you hardly see the relationship developing, until the end when they suddenly declare their love for each other. At the end of a book like this I´m left wondering, when did that happen? But not with A Passion Most Pure. This book shows Faith´s simultaneous attraction to Collin while she wrestles with the choice to reject him. It doesn´t hide temptation, but shows how a Christian must sacrifice certain desires for the sake of our Lord´s blessing.

Through this story God´s faithfulness to his servants in granting them the desires of their hearts is so vivid as Collin develops a sincere relationship with God. Collin isn´t only converted to Christianity, but the book shows his faith walk as he too must make decisions and choose new paths different from what he once took.

Since this is Julie Lessman´s debut novel, I´m very excited to see what the rest of her books in this series will hold. A Passion Most Pure is appropriately titled, as the passion is definitely present on so many levels--both romantically and spiritually. This is one of those satisfying stories that will move you to the same emotional level that the characters are experiencing. And when you finish reading it, you´re sorry it´s over.¤

2) Paperback Book A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) by Revell. Let me preface this as I love to read. And 99 percent of the time; I only read christian novels. Romance, mystery, whatever the genre, I tend to graviate towards them. One thing I didn´t (dont) like about Christian Romance novels is that some authors try to make them so Christian; that they forget to make them real. Real people, with real emotions, and real situations where it becomes 1 note.

Julie Lessman does not do this. Julie Lessman takes the bar and puts it to the highest level. I don´t like telling people about the book in reviews - that´s what the "Look Inside" is for. But I tell you there aren´t a lot of books I do not put down. There are not a lot of books where I burst out loud laughing, or shout "What the heck?!" or "EH!?" *Yes I am Canadian!!" Julie draws you into the novel in such a way you are a part of Faith´s story. You want to cheer her on. More importantly you care. (and some aspects - want to NOT care) about parts of Faith´s family. This is a "Clear Your Schedule All Day" novel. This novel is NOT 1 note. It´s not even 3 note. It is Blu-Ray, Hi-Def Imax experience.

my only other suggestion is this. GET book two at the same time. As a bookaholic - i tend not to wait and I get the MINUTE it´s off the shelves. (as you should with all CBA novels....) and then i have to wait an awfully long time until book two came out. You will be nothing but satisfied with this novel.¤

3) Paperback Book A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) by Revell. This book was one of the best romantic novels I have ever read. I had been wanting to read a Christian Romantic Novel for a very long time. I had read several secular books and I could never finish them because of the explicit scenes and the unecessary obscene details. This book has the balance, It is a great christian novel, It not only entertained me but I learned from it. Faith´s character defied me to be a better christian. I seriously couldn´t put it down. I stayed up saturday night ´til 2 am to finish the book, even though I had church the next day and I had to teach sunday school. I can´t wait til I read the second one, even though I can´t stand Charity, but I know that anything that Julie right will be SUPERB!!!¤

4) Paperback Book A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) by Revell. This book is 2008 Top 10 material. I loved it. With vivid descriptions, heart hammering emotion and the most passion I´ve ever read in an inspy book to date, Julie Lessman has written a book that mirrors real people with all the faults God bestowed on us.

I usually don´t like books where either main character has another love interest because I only want to know about what happens between the hero and the heroine. But in this book, it´s a major plot development b/c the hero is courting the heroine´s sister.

The hero, Collin McGuire is a nice, handsome fellow but I didn´t like the way he treats women. He´s no angel and if you´re wearing a skirt, you´re fair game. Not exactly hero material. He does have one redeeming feature...much to his chagrin...he is highly attracted to the heroine who as a believer, won´t give him the time of day.

Actually that´s not true. Faith O´Connor would like to give him more than the time of day b/c she´s loved him since they worked together in school. But she sees the man he is and won´t settle for anyone less than a church-going believer with eyes only for her. That would not be Collin.

Collin is actually confused. He´s courting one sister who would willingly `put out´ if he asked. He´s got a girl or two on the side for...release. And yet, he can´t stop thinking about Faith - the only girl who doesn´t want him. Do you think he wants her just b/c she´s unattainable? But she´s not really...for when they kiss, he realizes her true feelings...he´s just not willing to give up his `standards´ to be true only to her and her God.

This story kept me engrossed from beginning to end, from Boston to Ireland and back to Boston again. I cried. I laughed. And I cried some more. I drew looks from my hubby who snuck peeks at the book when I put it down. In fact, he kept taking it to read before I was even finished with it.

This is Book 1 of The Daughters of Boston series.

Book 2 is about Faith´s sister - Charity¤

5) Paperback Book A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) by Revell. Warning: there are a few spoilers in this review.

Add me to the list of readers who wanted to love this book, and I did enjoy the first half of the story. As a reader (and writer) of family sagas, I enjoyed the realistic romance of Patrick and Marcy and was intrigued by the bitter rivalry between the sisters. I appreciate the author´s rich voice and gift with description of both setting and emotions. Finally, I was happy to see passion depicted between the couples--this novel is more descriptive, but not in a gratuitous way, than a lot of Christian romance out there. When the attraction and tension is explored and not glossed over, it evokes an even deeper connection with the characters for the reader.

All that said, the story really ran off the rails about halfway through. Separating Collin and Faith diminished their connection--this is a pet peeve of mine in romance novels. What I enjoy most is reading about how the couple battle their problems together, not apart. I realize Collin had to come to know God on his own, not through Faith, but having him come to his epiphany so far away from Faith dampened that part of their story. When Faith fell in love with someone else so easily, it became hard for me to accept her all consuming love for Collin. I would have also liked to have seen more flavor in the dialogue--the settings are Boston, Ireland, France, but the characters all speak the same, with the same accents.

The bottom line is that there is a lot to like about this book, enough that I´m intrigued to find out what happens in the next one. On the other hand, there was enough for me to dislike about the plot that I didn´t find it a completely satisfying read. There is no doubt that Lessman has a gorgeous prose-style and delves deeply into the faith of her characters. If you are a fan of historical sagas (and don´t mind your romantic characters spending a lot of time apart) then you should pick up A Passion Most Pure.¤

6) Paperback Book A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1) by Revell. Refusing to settle for anything less than a romantic relationship that pleases God, Faith O´Connor steels her heart against her desire for the roguish Collin McGuire. But when Collin tries to win her sister Charity´s hand, Faith isn´t sure she can handle the jealousy she feels. To further complicate matters, Faith finds herself the object of Collin´s affections, even as he is courting her sister. The Great War is raging overseas, and a smaller war is brewing in the O´Connor household. Full of passion, romance, rivalry, and betrayal, A Passion Most Pure will captivate readers from the first page. Book 1 of the Daughters of Boston series.¤
