On 2009-08-24 R. Iverson, Illinois wrote: I don´t know why this won a caldecott honor medal. The pictures are depressing. The children and adults depicted are never shown smiling, they always look unhappy! The poetry is not much better, it is not enjoyable to read and most of the rhyme seems forced. I wish I would have looked more closely at this item before purchasing.. And summed up by saying Hate the poems, hate the illustrations. Currently A Child´s Calendar has an overall rating of 8 over 10.
