1) Paperback Book Menopause Guidebook by The North American Menopause Society. It isn´t easy wading through the numerous publications and websites that are authored by self-proclaimed "menopause experts". I didn´t know what was accurate. That´s why I´m glad I found this book. I knew I could count on sound medical advice from these menopause experts with medical credentials who backed up their words with scientific research. This book presents all the options - including the specifics on nonhormonal remedies and self-care information - without telling me what I "should" do. I like that. I visited their website, too, and found all kinds of information including referral lists of menopause discussion groups and doctors who passed a menopause exam. I read this book cover to cover, then took it with me when I visited my doctor. I really felt prepared to make decisions about my health that were right for me.¤

2) Paperback Book Menopause Guidebook by The North American Menopause Society. This book is written from a medical slant and although it´s very good at doing that, it lacks specifics of what women can do to make their menopause a positive experience. As Host of Bellaonline´s menopause web site, I hear from women every day asking how to reduce hot flashes without taking hormones, whether they should use black cohosh, what they should eat, and a million other questions. I wish this book would have provided more specific self-care information by asking menopausal women what they found useful.¤

3) Paperback Book Menopause Guidebook by The North American Menopause Society. The 2003 edition of the Menopause Guidebook is a must-read for women, their loved ones and health professionals who are interested in learning more about the many issues related to menopause. It provides insight into perimenopausal changes and health concerns that every woman should be aware of and highlights lifestyle options that can have a tremendous impact on health. This updated version reflects the impact of recent studies on current practices related to hormone therapy and provides evidence-based information about treatment options including prescription and non-prescription drugs, as well as complementary and alternative therapies. The additional resources listed provide other recommended sources for information. The Menopause Guidebook is required reading for informed decision-making about the many choices women face related to menopause and mid-life health.¤

4) Paperback Book Menopause Guidebook by The North American Menopause Society. As a physician and educator I find the new menopause guidebook an excellent if not indispensable resource for myself and my patients. The information is current, suberbly researched and easy to understand. I highly recommend it for all of us women searching for knowledge to help us make the most informed decisions we can at this momentous time in our lives.¤

5) Paperback Book Menopause Guidebook by The North American Menopause Society. The Menopause Guidebook remains the single best resource for consumers who seek information about menopause and midlife health. This recently updated booklet is a product of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and includes information about the menopause transition, midlife health issues, traditional and nontraditional treatments and more. The tone of the booklet is positive and unbiased and respects the uniqueness of each woman´s menopause experience. NAMS is a medical society dedicated to consumer and professional education, menopause research and advocacy. This booklet is an example of their important work and a must have for women entering the midlife phase of their lives.¤

6) Paperback Book Menopause Guidebook by The North American Menopause Society. Published by The North American Menopause Society, a nonprofit scientific organization, this comprehensive 60-page, consumer-oriented guidebook provides current, unbiased information on a broad range of topics related to menopause – including perimenopausal changes (such as irregular menstrual periods, hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and changes in sexual function), advice about postmenopausal health (including prevention of heart disease, osteoporosis, and cancer), and menopause treatment options (such as lifestyle changes, prescription and nonprescription remedies, and alternative/complementary treatments). This third edition has been updated with information based on recent scientific advances – including recent findings from the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), new FDA labeling for hormones, and new menopause-related treatments – making the guidebook the most current, most complete resource for consumers at the time of publication.¤
