1) Paperback Book Crossing 13 by Affirm Publications. I´ve had one small experience with suicide. It was a friend of mine´s brother. I didn´t know him but was close to her. I didn´t know what to say or how to be there for her. I really wish I had this book at that time. It would of made me more comfortable on how to comfort her.
It was a very short and easy read filled with thoughts, advice, statistics and healing through a time of extreme pain for all who is involved. I highly recommend this book for those who have dealt with suicide and even ones that haven´t. It gives insight on what to look for and how to help.¤

2) Paperback Book Crossing 13 by Affirm Publications. I purchased this book during a business trip to Detroit and I ended up reading it all the way through the first night in my hotel. I was very pleased to see that Carrie did this and for sharing with the world that part of her soul. It is a testament to her and the courage she possesses.

I think the most ingenious aspect of this book is how simple it is to read, but how deep it is in meaning. When you are done, you can´t help but continue to think of that small [...] girl dealing with finding her father, what you would have done or how you would have begun to heal; where you would have put your blame or began to find answers. Carrie delves in to all of this, plus so much more. She fully expresses how she found her answers and how she put her life back on the road she was meant to be on. This is an excellent book and I encourage it to anyone who has experienced such a tragedy in their life.

3) Paperback Book Crossing 13 by Affirm Publications. Reading this book was an intensely painful experience, from an emotional point of view. I would recommend that this book should become part of a therapy program for the depressed who are contemplating suicide. They should be made to realize what they will leave behind, and the legacy of grief and loss that they will bequeath upon the people they leave behind.

One positive aspect was that the author received therapy and was able to attend support groups after her father killed himself. For most of who dealt with overwhelming loss in childhood, there were no support groups, no therapy sessions.

In the telling of her painful story, the author also offers insight to those who are trying to help kids deal with the suicide of a parent. If a child tells you that one or both of their parents are dead, it is probably wise not to ask how or why it happened. If the kid wants you to know the details, they´ll tell you.

4) Paperback Book Crossing 13 by Affirm Publications. I was impressed by Carrie´s ability to be informative and yet show the helpless feeling young people have after a loved one has died by suicide.
It is written at a level so young people can understand the complicated
emotions one goes through with death and the resulting grief and guilt that envelopes their lives. People of all ages would find her book helpful in their search for answers that result with suicide.¤

5) Paperback Book Crossing 13 by Affirm Publications. Carrie Stark Hugus really made an unexpected difference in my life by writing this book. I actually read it a few months before my cousin took his own life and left behind 2 pre-teen girls. Because of what I read, I had insight that helped me handle the situation better. I highly recommend this easy-to-read memoir. She has also included a great list of places to seek additional help at the end of the book if you need it.¤
