If you enjoy a true whodunit and a mystery full of suspense, stay away from this misclassified romance novel. Its comedic battering between lead characters was amusing and then quickly became very annoying. Its supposition that a boring protagonist can become more interesting in a long recital of her past is false and again, annoying. In the end, you´re left with the desire to return this book for a refund. If you enjoy a mystery, guided by an intelligent amateur detective, try a Kendra Clayton or Tamala Hayle offering.¤ 2) Paperback Book Murder, Mayhem & a Fine Man by Howard Books. but it never quite developed for me. I bought it based on all the positive reviews and I have to wonder if these reviewers read the same book as I did. I liked the story idea, but too many ideas/themes tossed in and not thoroughly explored. The dialogue was thin and unrealistic at best. Other than that, I liked the point of view and I enjoyed the bits of humor that popped up. A great first effort, but gosh...work on story development for the next book please.¤ 3) Paperback Book Murder, Mayhem & a Fine Man by Howard Books. I don´t read a lot of chick lits or murder mysteries, so to read a book with both rolled up together was an anomally. But let me tell you, reader, this book captivated me. Bell´s (main character) wit had me laughing out loud.
4) Paperback Book Murder, Mayhem & a Fine Man by Howard Books. Claudia Mair Burney did the dogone thing! Amanda Bell Brown is a sassy and clever heroine. Sizzling dialogue, authentic description, and ever mounting conflict made it top notch reading. I couldn´t stop laughing at the humor, was moved by the underlying spiritual message and was simply delighted to find a really well written novel.
5) Paperback Book Murder, Mayhem & a Fine Man by Howard Books. I got the best of both worlds with this book. I´m always trapped in an episode of CSI:Miami, Law and Order or somewhere with my nose in a good Christian Fictian romance. How did Claudia Burney know just how to put it together? I felt like I was spying on Bell´s life. I was totally immersed in the crime scene, in the flirt scenes in the scary situational scenes. I used EVERY spare moment to read this book and I´m thrilled that there is another one in the series.¤ 6) Paperback Book Murder, Mayhem & a Fine Man by Howard Books. For Amanda Bell Brown, just living her life is murder! How´s a woman supposed to grapple with faith, a fine man, and turning thirty-five when she keeps tripping in her high heels over mysteries -- and not just the God kind? Amanda Bell Brown knows that life as a forensic psychologist isn´t quite as cool as it looks on prime-time TV. But when she turns thirty-five with no husband or baby on the horizon, she decides she´s gotta get out and paint the town -- in her drop-dead red birthday dress. Instead, she finds herself at the scene of a crime -- and she just may know who the killer is. She needs to spill her guts, but not on the handsome lead detective´s alligator shoes -- especially if she wants him to ask her out. A complicated murder investigation unearths not just a killer but a closet full of skeletons Amanda thought were long gone. Murder, mayhem, and a fine man are wreaking havoc on her birthday, but will her sleuthing leave her alive to see past thirty-five?¤ Page Updated: Robert N.
