This is a NAVAL RESEARCH LAB STENNIS SPACE CENTER MS GEOACOUSTICS/ GEOTECHNICAL SECTION report procured by the Pentagon and made available for public release. It has been reproduced in the best form available to the Pentagon. It is not spiral-bound, but rather assembled with Velobinding in a soft, white linen cover. The Storming Media report number is A170313. The abstract provided by the Pentagon follows: The Coastal Benthic Boundary Layer (CBBL) Research Program is a 5- year Office of Naval Research study that addresses the physical characterization and modeling of benthic boundary layer processes and the impact of these processes on seafloor structure properties, and behavior. In this report, results from the third year of the CBBL are summarized. Included are preliminary results from 1995 experiments conducted in carbonate sediments of the Florida Keys (The Key West Campaign). Also included are analyses of data collected during earlier experiments conducted on the soft methane-rich sediments of Eckemforde Bay (Baltic Sea) and on the sandy relict sediments of the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Year-end reports for the 19 projects supported by the CBBL are included along with a list of publications supported by this program.¤ Page Updated: Robert N.
