Every Knee Shall Bow by Xulon Press

On 2008-04-02 Scott George Mccombe, UK wrote: The first glaring fault any reader unfortunate enough to read `Every Knee Shall Bow´ will notice is Thomas Allin´s refusal to recognise the basic laws regarding English and the proper use of grammar. As a result, the chance of any literate individual having the patience to finish this appalling tract is slim.

I do not label this piece of gutter-writing a `tract´ for no reason. For a supposedly scholarly piece of argumentation in favour of a seriously consequential theological theory, the absence of any significant theological sources is abysmally noticeable. Any recourse to Church Fathers is kept to a minimum, and those that are quoted have their original meaning distorted to such an extent as to enable legitimate concerns on the pathological state of the author. As noted by another reviewer, none of these quotations are referenced, enabling only the theologically competent to spot the deceitfulness inherent within this book.

Of course, it is likely that the primary readership this is aimed at is of a Protestant nature, removing the significance of any quoted Church Father. Thus, the fundamentals of the presented Universalism are drawn from the Scripture. Protestants shouldn´t raise their hopes; his treatment of Scripture is just as erroneous. A handful of sporadic verses are presented as `proof-texts´, with enough eisegesis as to make the most experienced spin-doctor blush. Amazingly, these same few verses are spread thickly through 124 pages, together with the same emotive, philosophically-defunct arguments repeated ad nauseum. His treatment of Hell is reduced to that of the infantile, pleading that a loving God would not punish humanity, with each description of the pains of Hell accompanied by five or six exclamation marks.

I am not a Universalist; I believe it to be a dangerous and wicked heresy. But there is nothing within the pages of this book to make any fence-sitter, no matter how ´open-minded´, remotely consider the plausibility of Universalism. All that is presented, in a barely-readable manner, is sentimentally-charged platitudes and horrific pseduo-scholarship.. And summed up by saying Cavalier Contempt for Theology, Exegesis and the English Language. Currently Every Knee Shall Bow has an overall rating of 6 over 10.
