A superb book written by an extremely talented and well-educated Catholic priest. A "must-read" book for all Catholics. The book is clear, concise, easy to read and comprehend. It is the basic key to Catholicism to answer questions we would never ask about our religion, and opens our minds to new and innovative thinking.
2) Hardcover Book Catholicism without the Guilt by Outskirts Press. My sister gave me this book for my birthday, and honestly when I received it I was not impressed. I started reading and could not put it down. As a "mature" Catholic, a lot of the changes made me uncomfortable within my own faith. I go to church, sometimes. This book, and Father McNeely´s insite made me look deeper into myself. I had come to the belief that you don´t have to be inside a building to be with God, or to be in church. I have found my church´s in the sunset, special places that the human touch could not have accomplished and in the hugs of my niece and grandchildren. God loves us, not for what we do, but for who we are. We are not perfect people, we have to keep trying and that is what makes us who we are. This book made me feel like I was not the "bad catholic" I thought I was. I am still searching for my total guiltless feelings, but this book gave me the tools and inspiration to keep trying. Thanks to my little sister for her continued support and love.¤ 3) Hardcover Book Catholicism without the Guilt by Outskirts Press. Fr. McNeely writes with wit, knowledge and humility. His down-to-earth style is not for all clergy, and that is fine; but this style should jump-start any faint-hearted Catholic...young and old. This priest´s lack of pretension is at once winsome and wise. The powerful message that ´conscience is supreme´ makes mincemeat of our childhood (read ´guilt-inspired´)teachings. Thank you, Fr. McNeely! Your book is a keeper¤ 4) Hardcover Book Catholicism without the Guilt by Outskirts Press. Written with humor and humility, this wonderful book explains the basic tenets of the Catholic faith in a succinct format. Catholicism without the Guilt is well documented with explanation from noted theologians, including Pope Benedict XVI. This book is a practical guide for anyone interested in embracing Catholicism, renewing their faith, or seeking reassurance that the Church will welcome their return to the fold. Throughout, the reader is assured with the basic message that God loves all of us, unconditionally. Fr. Mac has succeeded in delivering the good news we all need to know and believe.¤ 5) Hardcover Book Catholicism without the Guilt by Outskirts Press. Catholicism without the Guilt is a logical, clear, concise summary of the essence of the religion. It reinforces a spiritual core of apologetics for Catholics of all ages and is a valuable tool for persons of other faiths who wish to understand what it means to be a Catholic. Father McNeely explains fundamental facts about the faith with unpretentious humor and precision. He presents a comparative religion summary of other major faiths showing their differences from Catholicism. He never criticizes the differences but presents them in a brief but scholarly way, encouraging the reader to do further research and make his/her own informed choice based on conscience. He emphasizes the supremacy of individual conscience and personal choice and quotes Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI as expert witnesses in this regard. This is not moral relativism but moral accuracy. There are no dumb questions, only incomplete answers, and to forbid questioning is never acceptable. Father McNeely explores many topics--infallibility of the papacy, saints and the Blessed Virgin Mary, eternal life, sex, Bible based religion--to name a few--with his feet clearly in the 21st century and his spirit unquestionably inspired by the truths of his deep faith. He has a wonderful sense of humor that carries the reader through heavy subject matter. After reading the book, I bought five more copies to send as gifts.¤ 6) Hardcover Book Catholicism without the Guilt by Outskirts Press. Page Updated: Robert N.
