1) Audio CD Book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by BBC Audiobooks. Patrick Fraley´s reading of our Great American Novel is absolutely outstanding. The man has an amazing talent to create voices of such distinct and memorable individuality that, as the previous reviewer said, it was like listening to a full cast. And you can tell that he has a lot of fun doing it. I can imagine him coming home to his wife at night and relating his daily events in a dozen zany voices. After doing a little research, I discovered that Mr. Fraley provided the voices for countless cartoon characters from my youth; I had no idea. That tells you something about the man´s talent- he´s so good that you just can´t detect any sort of common vocal fingerprint in his creations. So definitely listen to this great audiobook- I think this is how Huckleberry Finn was meant to be enjoyed: heard, not read, and Patrick Fraley is the master storyteller to do it.¤ 2) Audio CD Book The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by BBC Audiobooks. I have to say that this is one of the best audiobooks I´ve ever heard; Patrick Fraley´s voice characterizations are SO good I feel like I´m listening to a full cast!! His dialects are spot-on, and, as a child of the South land, I should know! Listeners should be aware that this is an UNabridged copy, and, as such, contains the word "[...]." The relationship between Huck and Jim, the escaped slave, is respectful, so the words seem to be just a product of both dialect and the verbage of the times.
In my opinion this is an incredibly enjoyable listen that shouldn´t be missed.¤ Page Updated: Robert N. Goolsby, 2-Dec-2008, 16028342969781602834293, 920-251-161-751-961-S6B-8 The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Book, Image © BBC Audiobooks
