1) Paperback Book Forbidden: The Claim by Linden Bay Romance. Excellent contemporary erotic vampire series starter. Heat and lots of it, humor and intelligence. The winning triad for me. Other reviewers have provided well written story summaries; I won´t be redundant. I loved the premise and fell into the story line immediately. I really love the authors new twist on the vampire alpha male. Byron Renfield "Ren" is everything you could want in an Alpha male vampire hero; sexy, very hot, but Ren also has elements of a sensitive romantic nerd rolled in to his character. A "he had me at hello" kind of guy. The tension and attraction between Ren and his HEA Violet is drawn in a way that raises your blood pressure and occasionally gets one´s tear ducts working.

My only complaint; it was over too soon. I immediately downloaded the next two stories and read all night. I cannot wait for the next, fourth book in the series. I am hoping for a long relationship with this series.

While the story is short and pricey for a hard copy, it is worth the price if hard copy is what you require. I found it at allromanceebooks.com for a much lower price in the electronic format. However, having read it, I would happily pay the hard copy price now. I am hoping though that the publisher may think of combining the first two books into one larger book. They really belong together.¤

2) Paperback Book Forbidden: The Claim by Linden Bay Romance. This isn´t even a novella. Definitely a short story or a few short chapters from a separately marketed longer work. The idea is good, but underdeveloped and despite what the cover art implies not very erotic. Of course, 116 double spaced narrow printed pages doesn´t leave much time for development. Short story writers, however, know how to deliver. Ms. Sommersby is no short story writer. I´m sure short changing the buyer in this is an editorial decision or a publishing ploy. I have the second book but I´m strangely unmotivated to read it. I´m not attached to the characters at all at this point. I have no reason to be. Don´t waste your money. I´m trading it at the used book store next trip. Look at your local used shop or at the library.

3) Paperback Book Forbidden: The Claim by Linden Bay Romance. This book is only 116 pages long and double spaced!! It took me one night to read it. Fairly interesting but way too short. I can´t believe I paid $10 for this. Like someone else said it appeared to be a beginner´s book. Wasted money!!!¤

4) Paperback Book Forbidden: The Claim by Linden Bay Romance. while I liked the charachters in the book but was strangely unaffected by them. I also didn´t like how short the story was and something about the way it was written didn´t appeal to me (it was not the 1st person perspecitve, when done well those are fine i.e as in Warprize). Overall it felt like a beginners novel and the writer didn´t seem to know her charachters very well and their reactions were sometimes inconsistent and puzzling. I would not buy the second book in the series but would read it if I saw it in the library.¤

5) Paperback Book Forbidden: The Claim by Linden Bay Romance. Forbidden: The Claim, is a vampire romance book written by author Samantha Summersby. Byron Renfeld, a vampire for two centuries, is a Dommie which means he has devoted his life to serving the clan. Those born immortals, like Byron, are chosen to serve in some way to work their way up, and if they serve well, they given an afterlife. Children of vampires that are born mortal are promised an afterlife. Byron works in securing the financial life to the Chosen by being in the position of the Treasurer of his Clan. His success is reflected on his own wealth that he brings forth in the book with his beautiful victorian home and life on the island.

Grieving for two friends, Fred and Grace, leaves Byron with letters from Grace´s niece Violet. With these letters, Byron reads them and develops feelings for Violet. On a rainy night Violet shows up to Byron´s home with her plans to visit with Grace being unaware that she had passed away. Together they share their grief and further get to know each other. Violet herself is an independent and a bold woman who has strong feelings for and wants Byron. Over the course of the story, she begins to understand he is a vampire, that he is forbbiden to her. If she takes these risks to be with Byron, he may lose his authority as the Dommie, which is losing his way to an afterlife. Violet may also lose her life. The rules of the Chosen are, that he is not to chose a mortal to love. Thinking that he will notfall for Violet deeply, they continue on into a sizzling relationship. Together their love is so strong, sensual and intense, that they take the chance of being with each other until Byron´s past lover, Rita, comes and warns him that he will have to step down or be expelled. Bryan does not want to have the life that was like his father, which is exactly what Bryon is doing similarly. With wanting to keep Violet hidden he has Ruth, who is a strong supporter to Bryon as well, bring Violet home and keep her safe for him while he thinks over these events and to make plan if they can be together again.

Forbidden: The Claim is a very absorbing read, that I could not let go and put down. I had goosebumps reading parts of this story because I was feeling for Bryon, and feeling for Violet. Samantha Sommersby has written Bryon´s story which he narrates with so much visual and emotonal insight with his words really captivate you into believing. The author even has Bryon reflecting on Violet´s reactions and thoughts so naturally. You end up feeling her feelings and thoughts through Bryan. This was done outstandingly by the author Samantha Sommersby. With Bryon keeping himself isolated and sheltered in his home and you could sense the outpouring of love he had within him when he met Violet! She was so determined and strong that she faced up to Bryon during his anger when his fangs would appear. With her love and strength she would not give up her love for him. I even fell in love with these two characters. This story is the beginning of their journey. You won´t find the ending to their story here, but you´ll be begging the author Samantha Sommersby to give you a peek, to give you the rest of their story now. A definate keeper and start to Bryon´s life that you´d want to spend an your life to keep knowing.
