The question in my mind during 1976 was whether the band would be able to sustain its momentum. There was always the possibility, even the likelihood, that Mac would pull yet another about face and abandon the California pop-rock formula and head off in another direction. Well, those fears were put to rest as soon as I returned home with Rumours under my arm, placed the vinyl on my turntable and the needle hit the second track (Dreams). Here was another sensational radio friendly Stevie Nicks mega hit just waiting to storm the charts. There was more to come - the terrific Don´t Stop, Go Your Own Way, You Make Loving Fun and The Chain. However, all in all I find Rumours less satisfying than Fleetwood Mac. While I can listen to the earlier record straight through without wanting to skip tracks there are several songs on the 1977 LP of which I am not fond - particularly Nick´s two songs Songbird and I Don´t Want to Know each of which I find to be pretty but inconsequential. Still, Rumours is another great album and a worthy follow up to their break-out record.
. And summed up by saying A worthy follow-up to Fleetwood Mac. Currently Rumours has an overall rating of 8 over 10.
