1) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. GREAT MOVIE IN ITSELF BUT EVEN BETTER FOR A STORMY RAINY DAY.GREAT SERVICE IN GETTING THE MOVIE ALSO¤ 2) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. My parents watched LONESOME DOVE when I was about three. Of course, then I was too young to grasp a television miniseries. But when I was about thirteen of fourteen, I watched it (i´d always heard it was good). I was amazed at the storyline and many times I weeped. It´s my favorite movie....period!¤ 3) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. This is one of my all time favorite movies. I own the regular DVD set, but after getting a Blu ray player, this was on the top of my list to get on Blu ray. I think they did a wonderful job of converting this 1989 film and was very happy they did. It looks so much better now. One of the all time great movies that appeals to men and women due to the masterful storytelling of Larry McMurtry. Not many writers have his talent for character development, and this movie does a masterful job of bringing those characters to life. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones give the performance of their careers in this movie. Not many books are transferred to movies successfully, but this movie actually enhances the book. Great addition to a Blu-ray library (or any movie library for that matter).¤ 4) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. This movie is without a doubt, the best western ever made, in fact, it maybe the best movie ever made. The acting, characters, screen shots, scenery, are outstanding. This movie is Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones´ masterpieces of their excellent careers. I have watched this movie numerous times and I walk away from it shaking my head in awe. Anyone who watches this movie will get a very good idea what the old west was like, no holes barred. Lonesome Dove is a classic movie and an excellent bargain for the price.¤ 5) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. I seen bits and pieces of this movie at a friends house and decided to by it. One of the best westerns I have seen, and surely in my top 5.¤ 6) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. Epic story about two former texas rangers who decide to move cattle from the south to montana. Augustus mccrae and woodrow call run into many problems on the way and the journey doesnt end without numerous casualties. Studio: Lions Gate Home Ent. Release Date: 09/23/2003 Starring: Robert Duvall Tommy Lee Jones Run time: 240 minutes Rating: Nr Director: Simon Wincer¤ 7) DVD DVD Lonesome Dove by Lions Gate. Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones star as Gus McCrae and Woodrow Call, aging cowboys and former Texas rangers and who organize a 2,500 mile cattle drive for one last great adventure in this excellent 1989 miniseries adaptation of Larry McMurtry´s novel. The best friends, who steal the herd from a gang of Mexican cattle rustlers, drive their herd from Texas to Montana, battling horse thieves, angry Indian tribes, and a renegade half-breed killer named Blue Duck (Frederic Forrest) on a mission of revenge. The excellent cast also includes Robert Urich as cardsharp and former Ranger Jake Spoon, Anjelica Huston as McCrae´s old flame Clara Allen, Danny Glover, Ricky Schroder, Diane Lane, Chris Cooper, D.B. Sweeney, Steve Buscemi, and even a small role for author Larry McMurtry. Australian director Simon Wincer shows a tremendous capacity for balancing sweeping drama and intimacy against the gorgeous landscape of the American Southwest, giving a grandly epic feel to the film despite its small-screen target and limited budget, and for forging memorable characters of even the smallest supporting parts. The heart of the drama belongs to McCrae and Call, memorably etched by Duvall and Jones as the last of the range romantics. In the age of revisionist Westerns, this excellent cattle-drive drama nicely maintains an old-fashioned feeling while still showing the dark side of the American West. Winner of seven Emmy Awards and responsible for two miniseries sequels (Return to Lonesome Dove and Dead Man´s Walk) and a TV series. --Sean Axmaker¤ Page Updated: Robert N.
