1) DVD DVD Fighting for Freedom: Revolution & Civil War by PBS (Direct). The Burns stories were beter, but there´s a big difference between $100.00 and $1.22.¤ 2) DVD DVD Fighting for Freedom: Revolution & Civil War by PBS (Direct). I found this video contained not even the basics that was covered in 6th grade American history in public school. It has lots of star power; Katie Couric, George & Laura Bush, Chevy Chase, Whoopie Goldberg, Brad Pitt, Richard Gere, Robert Redford...the list goes on and on.
But very limited substance.
It would be a fair choice for someone from another country that hasn´t been exposed to American history in school, but only fair.
For more in-depth content, I suggest the Ken Burns PBS Civil War series and the History Channel Civil War Journal as much much better alternatives. I don´t know for sure, but I´m sure other History Channel and similar productions have terrific content on the American Revolution. In fact I´m here right now to seek some out!
Fighting for Freedom: Revolutionary & Civil War is only a couple of hours long, so not much can be expected from it.¤ 3) DVD DVD Fighting for Freedom: Revolution & Civil War by PBS (Direct). Freedom is the overarching theme of America´s history. It is what has drawn countless human being here from around the world, and it is what generations of American men and women have lived and dies for. "Fighting for Freedom" tells the story of the forging place of American -- the Revolutionary War. As that costly war unfolded, it came to be said that American freedom was "born in revolution." But if America was founded on the promise of a land in which all persons might be free, there was from the start a glaring contradiction: slavery. Slavery undermined America´s "experiment in freedom," and the Civil War it spawned could be resolved by nothing less than all-out war.¤ Page Updated: Robert N.
