1) Hardcover Book Edge of Battle: A Novel by William Morrow. This is a typical story by Dale Brown. You can depend on lots of action. Even some of the bad guys get eliminated.¤

2) Hardcover Book Edge of Battle: A Novel by William Morrow. Edge of Battle CD: A Novel

This was my seventh Dale Brown audiobook, and in all fairness to the author, my single star rating has nothing to do with the book content. In fact, I never completed even one CD. Anyone listening to this book through a headset will go nuts adjusting the volume control to keep up with the constant changing in voice level from screaming loud commands in Spanish to a low whisper.

Dale, next time don´t let your hard work crash on takeoff because of a poor reader like Michael McShane, or at least spend a little money editing the audio volume.¤

3) Hardcover Book Edge of Battle: A Novel by William Morrow. This was a difficult topic to write about because the area is politically sensitive with our neighbor Mexico, and the authors didn´t have the ´big´ toys to play with, like submarines, etc.
It held my interest because I know and am involved in the areas of action in the book, but it is not as fast acting as other of the author´s works.¤

4) Hardcover Book Edge of Battle: A Novel by William Morrow. Thank God I picked this up from the library! This is the worst book I´ve ever read by far. I wanted to send the author a note but thought posting here might be a better idea.

DO NOT waste your time reading this piece of garbage. How this got published in beyond me.

The "technology" (such as it is in this book)is just stupid and insulting to anyone who knows even a little about advanced military technology.

And, perhaps the worst part, is his treatment of the military characters in this book. One example is he has a Sergeant and a private in the National Guard driving over to intercept a group of potential illegal immigrants crossing the border. They drive up to a woman´s body laying in the middle of the road. It´s dark. They think she´s dead. The private instantly falls asleep at the wheel and when he wakes up the Sgt. (who did not know the private had miraculously fallen to sleep instantly) was laying on top of the woman´s body after trying to rape her and after getting knocked out by the woman with a rock.

When the reality is that it is the Mexican human smugglers doing the raping of Mexican women in real life, for Dale Brown to turn reality on its head is offensive.

So, please, exercise your power of the wallet and DO NOT buy anything from Dale Brown. You´ll have the added benefit of not wasting any of your precious life´s moments on such trash.

5) Hardcover Book Edge of Battle: A Novel by William Morrow. At the beginning of the book, I thought this book, except for the cybernetic infantry devices, could actually happen. But it quickly spiraled to places that lost any slight grasp on the realms of possibility. And it needed to have some slight plausibility because the writing was so uneven. Some of the action sequences are quite good, but they are separated by pages upon pages of redundant bombastic rhetoric. To be sure, Brown gives equal voice to both sides of the Mexican illegal immigration equation, but he does so repeatedly and breaks no new ground. While it has it high points, its low points make them too difficult a climb.¤

6) Hardcover Book Edge of Battle: A Novel by William Morrow.

The War on Terror . . . with a little more firepower

Violence and tensions along the U.S.-Mexican border have never been higher, sparked by battles between rival drug lords and an increased flow of illegal migrants. To combat the threat, the United States has executed Operation Rampart: a controversial test base in southern California run by Major Jason Richter and TALON, his high-tech special operations unit.

Their success is threatened by a drug kingpin and migrant smuggler named Ernesto Fuerza. In the guise of Mexican nationalist "Commander Veracruz," he causes a storm of controversy on both sides of the border, calling for a revolution to take back the northernmost "Mexican states" -- the Southwest United States. His real intention is to make it easier to import illegal drugs across the border. Soon Richter and his force are reassigned to the FBI to take on a deadly mission that will bring him face-to-face with Fuerza and set off a wave of bloodshed that threatens to become an all-out guerrilla war. Lurking behind Fuerza is Richter’s nemesis, former Soviet nuclear forces commander turned terror mastermind Yegor Zakharov, who is set on revenge to the very end.

In Edge of Battle, bestselling author Dale Brown stays a step ahead of world events. Don’t miss this sensational ride!
