1) Electronics CE HP 35s Scientific Calculator by Hewlett Packard. I got my HP35s and I like it. I own an HP41CV also. It is very easy to program it, especially they replaced the PROMPT command which you have to key in in HP41CV with INPUT key-very convenient. I am glad HP is back with its line of quality calculators. Behnam¤

2) Electronics CE HP 35s Scientific Calculator by Hewlett Packard. I purchased a HP33s to replace an 11C (mistake). The keys on the 33S just didn´t feel and function right. The 35s is a perfect replacement. It has the feel of the 11C keys and has performed flawlessly so far.¤

3) Electronics CE HP 35s Scientific Calculator by Hewlett Packard. This is a good calculator. I like the basic functionality and two line display. Some of the necessary key strokes for functions I typically use (like ´STO´) are inconvenient. This is the best non-graphical calculator I have seen that is currently being made (by any company), but I don´t like it as well as the HP-32SII.¤

4) Electronics CE HP 35s Scientific Calculator by Hewlett Packard. As a professor in electrical enginering, I´ve been exposed to many calculators over the past 20 years. Hands down, the best ever for engineering was the HP42S - with the HP35S a close second (hence only 4 stars). Their ease with complex numbers and programming give students probably 10 extra points on EE midterms. They´re also ´dumb but powerful:´ they requires that you know what you´re doing. If you DO know what you´re doing, they´re very slick and efficient.

As a freshmen, you might do better with a graphical calculator which does symbolic math (i.e. they´ll differentiate and integrate for you). However, this severely hurts student by the time they´re juniors - they never learned the concepts, just how to use their calculator. This pitfall is avoided in the HP35s.

If I had my way, I´d only permit HP35s and HP42S calculators in our electrical engienering program. They foster learning and the development of problem solving skills with complex numbers far better than any other calculator I´ve found. If you´re thinking beyond your freshman year, I highly recommend the HP35s.

5) Electronics CE HP 35s Scientific Calculator by Hewlett Packard. In summary: If you want an RPN scientific calculator, this is it.HP 35s Scientific Calculator
As far as I know, the only Reverse Polish Notation calculators you can get are from HP: The 35s, 33s, and 12c. The 12c is a buisiness calculator and no good if you need even something as basic as trig functions. The 33s has many buttons arranged like the grill on an Edsel, with many functions per button--very hard to navigate around.
The 35s is satisfactory as a reincarnation of the more than 30-year old HP35 design, but offers few improvements. It uses small, expensive, CR2032 batteries and a low-resolution, hard to read 2-line display.
But if you want RPN, as I did, you are forced to go the HP and pay many times what and eqivalent "algebraic" calculator would cost.
Quality of construction appears to be adequate, but HP has seemingly learned that it´s not good business to build stuff to last forever.¤
