1) Hardcover Book Crispin by Hyperion. Crispin by AVI.
Crispin got accused for murder and stealing money from John Aycliffe. And now he is trying to capture Crispin because he tries to leave town. Then Crispin met bear and had many adventures. Will Crispin get out or get caught before he leaves?
I thought this book was boring because it was really confusing. I recommend this book to people who like boring books that have to do with old times.
¤ 2) Hardcover Book Crispin by Hyperion. First off let me say that I really enjoyed Crispin, The Cross of Lead. I liked the action paced pursuit and Bear´s strength. Obviously Crispin sees a father in Bear and even I started to look up at him as one of my favorite characters from children´s books.
Unluckily in The Edge of the World, Bear is not the type of character I admired. He is weak and wounded and doesn´t really want to take risks anymore. The characters are pursuited throughout the story. Bear is always in pain and he really never recovers. For me good writing involves character´s failures and pains throughout the story but as a reader I feel I want to be rewarded with a triumph at the end, with a bit of happiness for the characters. In the end everyone fails and griefs over everything that has happened. Bear, my favorite character dies probably of small wounds and exhaustion. Nobody helps him, not even Crispin. He just let´s him sleep and die. I wanted to go and help him and show Bear that there are people in 14th century Europe that are kind and helpful to one another.
Crispin is a good kid that learns several lessons from Bear and the world around him. At the end Crispin has to make a few tough decision and he succeeds but I don´t see him as a passionate character. He feels the need to break away from Bear´s negativity but as a good son he stays with him all the time, until the end. I wish Crispin was more of a hero, not a soldier but a kid who learned a lot from Bear´s wits and wisdom.
AVI is a great storyteller, one of the best I have ever read and he really has a talent for writing but this last novel feels like it was an assignment instead of an inspiration.
If you really liked the Cross of Lead then you might read this, but don´t buy it, get it from the library as I did.¤ 3) Hardcover Book Crispin by Hyperion. "Blessed Saint Giles, it´s hard to be a man!"
CRISPIN: AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD follows sequel on the heels of its predecessor CRISPIN: THE CROSS OF LEAD, winner of the 2003 Newbery Award, New York Times bestseller, and Avi´s 50th book. While certainly readable as a standalone novel, the sequel picks up right where the first one left off, without missing a beat.
Set near the death of King Edward and the 100 Years War with France, Crispin and Bear have just escaped the gates of Great Wexly, Britain, the city where they were almost killed. Bear, a red-bearded, hat-jangling juggler and Crispin´s makeshift father, has for years served as a spy for John Ball´s rebel brotherhood. That life, though, is no more. So they run.

Their flight crosses paths with an outcast girl named Troth, who was born with a disfigured face and the reputation that came with it. She hopes that Bear´s words hold truth, that "Perhaps men who´ve seen a bigger world have bigger hearts." Crispin´s pursuit of manhood, Bear´s search for absolution, and Troth´s want of acceptance lie firmly at the thematic center of this novel, with the three of them learning what love and family might mean, even in the strangest of circumstances.
CRISPIN: AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD is an adventurous tale of flight and pursuit of spiritual forgiveness. The story is wholly entertaining, and Avi´s wordcraft is again top-notch. With its cinematic and vivid English countryside, from the dark forests to the vast ocean and towering cliffs, this story leaves us hoping that we just might find Avi someday writing another sequel.

Crispin at the Edge of the World is a very mysterious, suspenseful book. In the beginning of the book, Crispin (the main character) and Bear (Crispin´s friend) just got free from Great Wexyls walls. He and Bear were kept in there in the last book (Crispin the Cross of Lead). So that makes this book a sequel to Crispin the Cross of Lead. In Crispin at the Edge of the World, Crispin thought Bear might die for he was very ill and hungry. So they decided to stop by John Ball´s mansion. John Ball was a character from Crispin the Cross of Lead. When they go to John Ball he said to them, "Bear you betrayed me". With fear Bear and Crispin ran away because they were scared that he would try to kill them. So Crispin thought they would die.
This book takes place in the middle Ages/1300´s
I recommend this book to ages 10 and up.
